Mini Bio

Wesley Jeremiah Knight is the youngest of eight children born to Laurence and Penny Knight and the only boy with a seven year age gap between him and his youngest sister. The family comes from a long line of faithful Catholics hailing back to their Irish and Welsh ancestors. So much so that Wesley's father followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather and became a pastor of their local church and met his wife, Wesley's mom, when they were both missionaries during their college years. Wesley's mom started out her career studying nursing but ended up pursing med school and now works as as a local GP in their hometown in the South, Hartsville, South Carolina.

Wesley's parents and his older sisters were all fiercely religious but Wesley found himself easily questioning faith because he was born with a natural curiosity. He also shared a mischievous inquisitiveness with his BFF, Merlin Larson, who were born just days apart and their mom shared a hospital room for a couple of days, a friendship easily striking up between the two mothers. With Wesley being the only boy in his family and a significant age difference between him and his sisters, it was easy for him to strike up a brotherly-bond with Merlin and the two were inseparable their whole lives until Merlin won a massive musical theatre competition and scored a role on Broadway. It was the first time in his life Wesley felt lost and with that, other things in his life began to shift and make him more and more question his family's faith and beliefs, something he didn't feel he could talk to his family about coming from a long like of devout pastors and missionaries.

Wesley resisted gentle prodding to follow the family footsteps. He had no desire to do missionary work and barely kept his eyes open through church. His parents wanted him to be secure in his life so were also hoping he would go to college to study a reliable career like law, medicine, teaching or engineering but Wesley just didn't have the grades for it. The more he got pressured, not just from his family, but church friends, the more he tried to resist and was soon deliberately acting out. He had a passion for music but didn't really want to be a performer. His dream career had always been to be a Music Producer but his parents made it clear that if he wanted to waste his time study arts at college he would have to fund his own way, which is where his parents vastly different to Merlin's, who supported his dream to become a performing artist 100%.

What Wesley didn't have in academic smarts he made up for in ambitious determination. Being a keen guitar player, he started to record some of his own music tracks and was taken under the wing of a well-known local DJ who was planning on retiring and moving to a more tropical climate in the coming years (even if he was only 42). Wesley took to DJ'ing like a duck to water and soon had gigs every weekend, being booked for all kinds of events. It proved to be a good distraction for him when Merlin moved away and instead of going straight from high school to college, decided to take a gap year to save some money to study a Fine Arts in Sound Design... which he fully planned to do in New York near his BFF. He was conscious that Merlin had spread his wings in New York with an incredible life and would never come back to live in Beaufort.

Unfortunately, Wesley fell into the trap of using drugs which became easily accessible to him with his gigs. He loved smoking weed and then began mixing some pills with Red Bull to keep him buzzed for the gigs that ran into the wee hours of the mornings. Not only that, he had been suspecting since he was around fifteen that there was a chance he was gay and that only solidified after trying to date a few girls, all which ended in disasters, including an abortion he had to fork out for when he got the daughter of one of his dad's church friends pregnant because he was high when they fucked and forgot a condom.

Now he knows if he doesn't get out of the suffocating grips of his family and hometown, he's going to end up in more trouble than he knows he can get himself out of and he knows the only way he can do that is to reach out to the one person who has never judge him and always had his back... his BFF and brother from another mother, Merlin.
